Whatever your interest in the stock market it is essential to be aware of the effects of the stock market holidays.
Apart from the above holidays there are a few other anomalies in the trading times which need to be noted.
Thanksgiving Day 2011
* The NYSE will close early at 1:00 pm (Eastern Time) on November 25, 2011.
* The NASDAQ will close early at 1:00 pm (Eastern Time) on November 25,2011.
* On the AMEX trading will finish three hours early.
o 4:00 pm trading will finish at 1:00 pm
o 4:15 pm trading will finish at 1:15 pm
o After hours trading will start at 1:15 pm and all orders must be processed by 1:30 pm.
Finally, however seriously you intend to take your stock market trading it is essential that you have a record of the stock market holidays. Without knowing these you may miss opportunities to either buy stock or to sell it.
